Back in 1980 something, when we first developed Namebuilder Name Creation software, it was based on a simple need, to create names for products and businesses. Back then, it simply used concatenation techniques to randomly match morphemes, word sections, or syllables together at random to create new names. The most common examples of these kind of names are Microsoft (combining micro + soft) or OfficeJet, or even PeopleSoft, etc. I think the first name it ever came up with that was used was “ShowerPower” which was, you guessed it, a shower cleaner.
Anyway, since that time the product has undergone many changes. We added a name idea database which gives you name suggestions based on keywords, a letter fuser which creates new names using vowel/consonant letter construction techniques (such as Xerox, Kodak, etc), and a simple but useful acronym generator.
Will Namebuilder create the perfect product or business name for you every time? Maybe, maybe not, but it’s a good tool to have. Try our new online name generator at www.zennamer.com, browser based, works on all platforms including Mac, iPhone, and Linux.

Namebuilder's Letter Fuser method allows you to create new words by using letter scrambling techniques. You can set the Fuser to start with consonants or vowels, and it generates new names and words by scrambling the alphabet.Click on the image below to see a screen shot.
This method is useful for creating names such as Xerox or Kodak.
